Trails to Explore in Bladen County
- Bay Trail at Jones Lake State Park – between Elizabethtown and White Lake
Easy | 4 Miles Loop
4-mile moderate trail marked with white diamond-shaped placards. This loop trail around Jones Lake offers an excellent way to experience the habitats of a Carolina Bay. Wander through dense vegetation and over boggy soil to view lovely lakeside flora. Large pond cypress trees draped with Spanish moss, line the shore and grow in the shallow water. Leatherwood plants with delicate white flowers, also called titi, overhang the water’s edge. Several short side-trails lead to the lake, allowing hikers a chance to catch their breath while taking in the vista across the lake. Begin Bay Trail at the picnic area. - CCC Loop at Singletary State Park – White Lake Area
Easy | 1.3 Miles
Enjoy this 1.3-mile loop trail, generally considered an easy route. Kids will have fun answering the questions scattered along the trail. Adults will enjoy the wooden walkway leading out over Singletary Lake. This trail is ideal for hiking and connects to the Mountain to Sea Trail. - Brown’s Creek Bike Park and Nature Trail – Elizabethtown

The challenging trails can be explored either on foot or on a mountain bike. The 17-mile trail system offers the adventure of climbs, switchbacks, high-speed downhill action, jumps, rock gardens, berms, and obstacles inside a scenic hardwood forest running along beautiful Brown’s Creek. The entrance to an easy 1-mile beginner’s loop is located in the lower parking lot. There are no admission fees, parking is free, and you are less than a mile away from Downtown Elizabethtown. - White Lake Multi-Use Trail – White Lake

Paved path around a portion of White Lake used for running, walking and biking. - Greene’s Lake Park Trail – Elizabethtown
Moderate | 1.3 mile loop
The main paved walking trail at Greene’s Lake Conservation Park is 1.32 miles long. It circles the lake and is suitable for walking, jogging, or biking. The trail is paved and offers scenic views, including passing by the petting zoo and other amenities at the Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery.
- Mountain to Sea – Segment 13 – White Oak to White Lake
Moderate to Difficult | 39 + Miles (2.8 on singletrack trail, 11.8 on unpaved or forest roads, some of which may be closed to traffic, and 24.6 on paved roads)
This 39-mile segment allows hikers to explore one of the most diverse and intriguing ecological areas in the nation as well as a Revolutionary War site and the resort community of White Lake. The route traverses public lands that protect many “Carolina Bays,” elliptical depressions all aligned in a northwest to southeast direction. The bays provide habitat for many rare and endangered species, and theories abound about how they were originally formed. - Taste of Bladen County Driving Tour – Dublin, Bladenboro, Elizabethtown & White Lake

The Taste of Bladen Food Trail is a flavorful journey through Bladen County, showcasing the area’s rich agricultural heritage and vibrant local flavors. The trail begins at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin. - Self-Guided Tour of Historic Elizabethtown – Downtown Elizabethtown

A self-guided walking tour through the downtown of the county seat, covering the 250-plus years of stories from the site of a Revolutionary War Battle to the hometown of an American Astronaut. - Cape Fear Scenic Overlook Trail at Tory Hole Park – Downtown Elizabethtown
Easy | .5 Mile Loop
A short, unpaved trail in Tory Hole Park. This trail leads walkers to two scenic overlooks of the Cape Fear River. It’s a round-trip trail, approximately half a mile in length. The trail features wooden bridges and a swing for relaxing. Make sure to read the historical markers about the Battle of Elizabethtown. - Carolina Bay Scenic Byway – Elizabethtown
